Greenish Tea (Oolong)
Greenish tea is also known as Oolong tea, where the former saying is prevalent in China while the latter is common in Taiwan. Greenish tea originated in the Qing Dynasty of China, about 200 years ago from now, and was the inaugural type of Chinese tea. Fujian of China serves as the leading production base for greenish tea and the two major bases are Wuyi and Anxi. By referencing the oxidation approach of the two aforesaid areas, Taiwan has come up with its oxidation methodology for Oolong tea.
Greenish tea appears greenish brown in general while it looks golden green after brewing. Greenish tea with a relatively lower degree of oxidation gives off pleasant green tea flavour while that with a higher degree of oxidation comprises green tea’s aroma and black tea’s sweetness.
